Description:

This digitally illustrated composition is one of 8 panels I designed and illustrated for the City of Novato’s Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Novato Rotary Club. All 8 signs were installed around Scottsdale Pond, near Novato’s downtown.

This sign is a size and coloration comparison of four species in the family Laridae that are commonly found in Northern California: the Forster’s Tern, the Heermann’s Gull, the Western Gull, and the Ring-billed Gull. To make this sign more beginner-birder-friendly, all four species are depicted in their more distinctive breeding plumage.
